Chad is on a small break from school (it’s actually a very perfect 3 weeks) so we’ve been trying to schedule lots & get lots of stuff done while he’s been home. We’ve had packed days & are getting projects done, and going on adventures & it makes me scared to have him go back to school. How do I survive without him? Presley loves having him home so much. As soon as she wakes up in the morning and I go into her room – she looks around and says, “Dada?”. Daddy isn’t a morning person so Presley and I cuddle on the couch & after she nurses, she jumps off the couch and runs into our Master room saying, “Daaaaaadd? Dada Dada?” and then she squeals when she sees him, climbs onto the bed & gives him hugs & kisses. Everyday.
This last week while we were planning out some adventures & scouring the internet for deals – we found a King Size with a view Hotel Room in Sedona for $49 and knew that we had to take an overnight trip. Sedona is only about 2 hours from us & Presley loves being outside and hiking so it was perfect. We packed up the car & stopped at Denny’s for Breakfast. It was Veterans Day and Chad is in the Army so we were able to get half of our meal for free. Presley LOVES scrambled eggs & bacon so it made for a pretty dang happy delicious breakfast!
The last time we were in Sedona I wanted to do one of the several Indian ruin hikes but we didn’t have enough time – so we got to do it this time. Presley is so much fun hiking, she loves to jump and climb over all the rocks. It makes for some long hikes, but she is happy and exploring so we don’t mind at all.
The Honanki Ruins were one of the hikes I was most excited to do when we first found out how close Sedona was. I was absolutely speechless when we arrived. It is so incredible that people lived here & in conditions with snow, wind, rain with only a mountain covering them & only their hand-built walls protecting them. It was incredible just starring at the rooms imagining what went on there.
Do you see that handprint? That is somebody’s hand from building their home. I couldn’t even blink. What a beautiful/eerie thing to see.
Another incredible thing to see is the artwork on the walls. Suns & Moons, animals, children. So incredible that this is still here for all of us to see. If you visit Sedona, this hike is worth the 10-mile drive on a gravel road (took us about an hour to get there). It’s incredible.
After our hike we checked into our hotel, relaxed, cuddled, got cleaned up, changed & headed out to walk around the town to find some dinner. We had no idea where to eat & so we stopped at a little tourist center & got a fantastic recommendation & a coupon for a free dessert (totally do that when you travel!)
We took Presley’s Pac-N-Play & she fell right asleep after our full day of adventures & slept from 9-630 straight & then cuddled in bed with us until about 730. It made me miss cuddling with her all night SO much. She didn’t want to touch the bed, she only wanted to cuddle right on top of me. I didn’t sleep at all because I was so in love with the moment of holding her and listening to her breath. Magical moment y’all.
