AHH!!! I have a two year old!! And a gorgeous one at that:
It has been so hard saying ‘Oh she is two’ this last week when people ask how old Presley is. SO crazy thinking that she is truly a two year old toddler. I just cannot believe it. The days are long, but the years are short. There were incredibly long painful days & more sleepless nights than I could even count – but here we are. TWO years old. Surviving, and thriving and enjoying every single day – regardless of what it holds. Presley and I have learned to take each day, one at a time & to just make it the absolute best that we can.
So here is the breakdown of my sweet Presley girl…(who was bribed with sprinkles for these pictures)
Eating:
Breakfast: French Toast Sticks & Banana // Cereal //Eggs & Bacon
Lunch: Tator Tots // Hot Dogs // Macaroni – with a vegetable
Dinner: Whatever we are eating with veggies & cheese
Snacks: Goldfish, Apple Slices, Crackers, Popcorn, Fruit Snacks
Favorites: Black beans, broccoli, corn, beans, sugar snap peas & SWEETS (she’s my baby!) Chocolate, Suckers & anything ‘tandy’ related
Drinks: WATER. This girl flipping loves water. She drinks Vitamin D milk & will occasionally have Apple or Orange juice – but she is perfectly content with water. She is down to nursing 2x a day – we are WEANING baby!
Sleeping: Her sleep schedule has been a little crazy lately. Daddy had a break from school, then we had family visit, then she was sick, then we went to Washington for 2 weeks, then she got sick again & started getting one of her second molars in. Ideally Presley sleeps from around 830pm-730am. She takes a 1 hour nap around 1 or 130. When she isn’t sick & we have a normal schedule – Presley can cry/whine to sleep in less than 5 minutes and has slept really well in her bed for the past 6 months. (Praise jesus!)
Likes: Watching Movies (her favorites lately: Frozen, Charlottes Web, Monsters Vs. Aliens, Jungle Book) She loves to be outside on adventures & playing chase with Dexter. Loves animals & has memorized the Zoo. Loves when Daddy comes home from school & when she gets presents in the mail. She loves being tickled & being scared & loves throws with Daddy. She loves to be busy & not just sitting at home. She loves craft projects & painting so we do that a few afternoons a week.
Dislikes: Occasionally she will protest bath time, dinner & has started throwing pretty good fits. She doesn’t like when she doesn’t get her way & when she isn’t the center of attention. We are working very hard & staying firm, timeouts & making sure she listens the first (or maybe the second) time.
Words: Presley amazes me every single day with the words she has learned. During normal daily talk, she usually just babbles around and nothing is really coherent, but when things are slowed down she can tell you what just about anything is. She knows ordinary objects, things outside, animal names & is proving to me everyday how smart she is and how much she has learned these past few months. I’d say she knows at least 30-40 words. Her latest, “Oh no – dangit!”. (<—- uhm who taught her this?)
She can also count to ten with just a little assistance (she gets 4 & 7 mixed up) & is starting to learn her colors and more of the Alphabet.
Development: Presley seems to be developing at a rapid pace which is such a relief because she seemed further behind than other Toddlers around her age. She still has several things we are watching and are hoping she outgrows. She has several OCD and Autism markers that we are watching and asking her Pediatrician about. She has some anger management issues & some things that have to be done a certain way, or she will go crazy. We’ve had people tell us their kids had similar things that they outgrew, so we are praying it’s similar – but also want to be able to get her some early treatment if it is necessary. We were told we would start evaluation at her 2 year appointment, but they decided to push it back 6 months since she seems to be improving.
I’m so glad Presley is getting so big! She gets better & more fun everyday. My favorite days start off with cuddles and breakfast and we do makeup together & run errands – all while I am in complete awe at how amazing my life is. I’m so thankful for Presley and for the sweet spirit she has brought into my life. She makes me slow down & skip To-Do lists because cuddling and tickle parties are more important than anything. I love her with every fiber of my being & get excited when she wakes up and we can begin our adventures. She’s made me a momma, and a strong one at that. Her face lights up when she sees something she loves & she opens her mouth really big when she is amazed. When she starts throwing a fit she takes a running start to throw her body onto the ground & then gets hurt and wants to cuddle. She loves saying, ‘towch’ (couch) and loves to watch movies & cuddle & play games.
She is such a beautiful girl & people are fascinated with her everywhere we go. They love her silly hair spouts & when she’s in a good friendly mood she will wave & high five & blow kisses. She loves carrying a baby or stuffy with her & loves playing in her pretend kitchen. She loves to share & kiss owies. She loves routine & reading books & giving kisses.

Your daughter is so beautiful. As a mother of a 11 month old, I can happily say I’m excited to venture into this chapter of motherhood. Every day is an amazing learning experience and it looks like that is never changing. Happy Birthday to your daughter and congrats to you for raising such a smart little one. I found your blog while on Megan’s Absolute Mommy. I love meeting new mommy bloggers. (:

ugh. Nothing stresses me out more than the Autism markers. Our pediatrician brought it up at our last visit. (you know, right after I had STOPPED stressing about it.) It is so important that you are not hardened against it though. Early therapy is so great.
That smile kills me. Kisses from us.
