We joked for the last few weeks that Presley was having secret texts with Grandma Terri because every time she saw a Gingerbread house she said “When I go to Gammas house, I make a gingerbread house with her!” So, of course, as soon as we arrived Presley was very excited to get to work with Grandma. She was interested for about 45 minutes & then was just over it. But while we were decorating we decided to have the entire family over Christmas Eve for a decorating competition. So, it all worked out.
We decided since we had so many people coming over Christmas Eve that we would have a Gingerbread Decorating Contest. We got a bunch of houses, split into random teams & had only an hour time limit. We asked that everyone bring an edible item to be shared with the other teams & it was required that each house have at least one of each of the items.
It was a blast, and even though my team lost – it was still an exciting sugar filled evening. I think we will just add this to the Christmas traditions. Great for family groups, kids & fun with challenges, requirements, and with or without rules.
