Explore Arizona – Payson Verde Hot Springs

11 March 2016 by Tausha 2 Comments

verde1Chads best friend Fred was in town this last week (He delivered our new Hummer H3 from Sacramento, Ca) and we decided to take him exploring in Payson. We had a friend recommend the Verde Hot Springs so we decided to do it! It was just over 2 hours from our house & we made it down a very bumpy 20 mile dirt road that our hummer handled flawlessly. (Our butts were numb after the hour it took to do that last 20 miles) and finally we got to the trailhead.
IMG_0981verde1-2 IMG_1118Of course, we had to do lots of exploring before actually getting on the trail. Naturally our family theme is “Adventure is out there!” so we made sure to get our full explore on. There was an old water mill (I think?) that we explored & the fence was already pryed open so we agreed it all said, “come hither and explore”
verde1-3 IMG_1117DCIM100GOPROIMG_1122We ended up going a mile past our turn off, so after we hiked the mile back & ventured out to this spot I thought it might be the first time around, we found the Hot Springs!!! We were so excited we practically ran there and got naked right away! DUH! Hahah, we were definitely a sight to see, thankfully we were the only ones there. It was beautiful looking at all the artwork & signatures all over the walls and sitting in the warm sulfer smelling water.verde4IMG_1123Of course because we had the place all to ourselves & tons of resources online mentioned it being a nudist colony – we all decided to strip down. Why not right?!

Enjoy. Have a great weekend!! XO

Thought I’d share a fun November adventure we we Thought I’d share a fun November adventure we went on to @oliobonamini We were able to see the amazing process of making olive oil & here is a basic breakdown of how it works:

First, a machine shakes the olives from the trees. The olives fall to a net on the ground.

Then the leaves are removed & the olives are washed in regular water.

Next, The olives are dropped into another machine that works like little hammers crushing the olives (skin, meat, pit, water and olive oil all together)

This paste is then kneaded by another machine for 30-40 minutes to make separation easier.

The next machine takes the paste and separates the solid parts from the liquid parts .

The liquid parts go into another machine that separates the oil from the water and you are left with an UNFILTERED olive oil.

The oil then goes into giant tanks until it is time to be bottled!
