I debated posting about this for awhile, but finally after going through the pictures I just can’t NOT post about this. This place and it’s history are absolutely incredible. The Phoenix Trotting park was originally built in 1964 as a horse racing track, it was estimated to cost around $3 million, but ended up costing close to $10 million! It closed just a short two years later & has been sitting there for 40 years – gorgeous as ever. You can read more about it’s history here. I remember when I saw this building from the freeway 2 years ago headed to LA for a blog conference and my heart stopped – I thought it was absolutely beautiful. I’ve been begging Chad to take me to explore for years, but the big fence & the trespassing signs didn’t sit too well with him. While my brother Nic was visiting – it somehow came up in conversation & he agreed to go with me. I’ve read lots of reviews about people visiting, and watched lots of youtube videos – so I knew it was possible. We went around 630am right as the sun was coming up and it was absolutely spectacular. I won’t share more of our law breaking adventures, but here are some pictures we snapped:
Gorgeous right? We did quick laps on all the floors – with only a tiny stop in the pitch black basement. I could have stayed all day – soooooo incredible. Thanks for stopping by to see all about my law breaking adventures.
