All opinions are mine alone. #LoveYourLawn #CollectiveBiasThe weather is so incredible, it is time to get that yard ready for backyard picnics, a relaxing mothers day weekend & movie nights under the stars. It is the perfect time to get your yard put together before summer hits & I’ve got some tips to help spruce up any space. Whether you’ve got a huge yard, or just a little one tucked behind the house (like us) these tips will work for every space & they are so easy! Working in the yard this weekend just got narrowed down for you!
FIRST UP. You need to feed your lawn! Do you feel like it needs just a little burst of color? Grass deserves to be luscious and green. So head to your local Walmart where you can find Scotts® Green MAX™ Lawn Food & the WIZZ™ Spreader. We found ours in the garden center inside the store:
Make sure you grab some gloves and plan to do this during naptime. It is quick and easy when you are using the electronic WIZZ. Our entire yard was done in just a few minutes. I just popped in the batteries & walked around the yard. No sore arm from cranking a regular seeder, and it was SO easy to use! We noticed that in just a few days our grass was greener, brighter and even some of the weeds in the yard were gone. Go Scotts!

Next up: Add flowers – fake or real to your patio area. I don’t remember often enough to water plants, so I opt out for fake. Even a small pot on your patio sets the tone for spring & relaxation. My favorite lately are tulips or hydrangeas and they look so beautiful year round. I think I’ll just keep this one forever.
So, you have fed your grass, added some pretty cold & now you’ve got to get your garden ready! We have a tiny little space in the corner of our yard that I plant a few things in every spring. This year we are sticking with spinach and cucumber. I love using both pre-potted plants & seeds. It’s fun to have some instant gratification, but also to see those tiny little green sprouts pocking up from the dirt in a few weeks. Having a garden is a great thing to do with kids – Presley loves helping water, especially loves planting the seeds & of course, loves eating the veggies. Even in the smallest of space a garden is fun & rewarding.
Last up: Decorate your garden
Because our space is small, I thought this little sign would be perfect to put above the garden. It was quick, easy, and used just things I had around the house. Because it will be outside it doesn’t need to be perfect & works perfectly with my ‘distressed is best’ lifestyle. I simply grabbed a spare piece of wood that was sitting in the garage & sanded it. Then followed that with a quick stain, layer of paint & then I stenciled on the word ‘garden’. I used my Silhouette and some vinyl – but this could easily be done with just a printer, or even hand done.
Now, your grass is eating up it’s food, there is color on the patio, your plants are growing & Spring is in the air. You can Sit back and enjoy the amazing weather and of course, enter the Scotts Sweepstakes for your chance to win Walmart gift cards or your very own spreader!
