I know it might seem silly to devote an entire blog post towards a dog but; he is part of the family so it just makes since he gets to take over this space for a day. Our sweet, fluffy perfect handsome Dexxy boy turned 5 this last month and we made sure to spoil him extra that day. He is pretty spoiled anyway; cozy sleeping spots all over the house, Presley sneaks him food and treats all the time, 2 long walks everyday & a family that cares about and loves him so much. We really do love him. Like that crazy love, where you just squeeze him and inhale. Crazy love. He is definitely a part of our family & not a day goes by we don’t thank God for putting him in our lives.

We bought this handsome boy from a breeder and he was one of the last puppies left in the litter. I’ll admit, I had wanted a female but after playing with a few puppies on the ground – we knew he was the one. Of course, we practically bought one of everything from PetSmart…clothes, a stepping ladder so he could climb into bed, toys, blankets, treats, i mean – everything. We went a little crazy, and by ‘we’, I mean I. Insert thankful for husband emoji here.
He’s always been a really good dog even without professional training. He stays close to us on walks & rarely has to be leashed. He is soft with kids, great with other animals & an expert level cuddler. He loves going on adventures with us, even if he is a baby when it comes to hiking….he is great in the bath, at the groomers. I mean, we struck gold with him.

The thing that I love so much about Dexter is how he is with Presley. Since the day we brought her home from the Hospital he has always been by her side. He is so protective of her and the first to be at her side when she wakes and is crying, or she gets hurt and needs cuddles. As soon as she falls asleep he cuddles up next to her & patiently listens to her babble while waiting for his treats. He never gets mad that she picks him up, suffocates him with kisses & just wants to chase him around the couch.
So, here is to our handsome Dexter. Dex, Dexxy boy, Dexxy Dana. We love you to the moon & back. And are so hopeful for many, many, many more years with you in our family.
