Presley and I were so lucky to be able to take a quick little vacation to Texas this past week to explore Arlington. I had driven through Arlington briefly last month but was incredibly surprised to find out how much there actually is to do in town! Just West of Dallas, Arlington is known for homing the Texas Rangers, AT&T Stadium and Six Flags Over Texas. There is something for everyone in Arlington from relaxing parks, adventure seeking couples or families wanting to entertain their kids. Presley and I spent a few days exploring and found some amazing parks, tons of geocaching and even visited Six Flags so I thought I’d share some pictures and a recap of our trip to make your visit to Arlington a little easier! We found an amazing save & a fun splurge so I’ll share those favorites and tons of pictures from those adventures.
We stayed at the Comfort Suites in Arlington about 10 minutes from the AT&T Stadium and Six Flags. The hotel was absolutely beautiful, had an amazing breakfast and fast free wifi. Our room was comfortable, spacious and a great price. The only downside was that the pool was outside & not heated and they didn’t have a hot tub – one of my favorite things to do on vacation! Another plus, there is a delicious mexican restaurant right next door that was absolutely divine! I had the Mango Lime Salmon salad and Presley ate every single bite of her Hot Dog & French Fry kids meal. Service was great & the atmosphere was perfect.
So, first up is our SAVE:
There is an entire section of free things you can find here and because the weather was amazing we decided to find something to do outside. We visited several parks and our favorite was the River Legacy Parks – 12,000 square feet of trails, grass and picnic areas, a small aquarium and tons of walking biking areas for the entire family. There are tons of parks with splash pads, picnic areas and parks for the little ones. While we were checking out parks we even found some geocaches! (Read more about how to get started Geocaching on this post)
Next up is our SPLURGE:
Six Flags over Texas is an absolutely amazing experience and great for thrill-seekers! Presley is exactly 42 inches so we were able to ride tons of rides (queue my nausea!) but I put on my big girl pants and rode tons of rides. We went on a Friday and the park wasn’t busy at all – several of the rides didn’t have lines and so we could go twice without even getting off! We had an absolute blast and loved the overcast and breeze. The only downside here is that everything costs an arm and a leg, my empty water bottle was taken away during bag check so we had to buy water for $5 (and the water fountains didn’t work!), a single slice of pizza was over $10, I can’t imagine feeding a big family there. If you have the time and energy, there are lots of park benches outside of the park, Id pack a lunch and leave it in the car in a cooler and then take a mid-day break to go have a healthy satisfying lunch!
If you have the chance to go to Arlington – GO! There are so many amazing things to do, I feel like we could have stayed for an entire week and never ran out of things to do. Find out all about Arlington & explore the many things there is to do (plus coupons, deals and events) right here.
