When we were spending a week in the Gran Canary Islands exploring Las Palmas we decided to leave our resort, rent a car and adventure around the island. One of our first stops was to Mogan, but then we headed to Maspalomas to check out the famous Sand Dunes before exploring more of the island.
Maspalomas is widely known for its Lighthouse (which has been in operation since the late 19th century), the nude beaches and 6km of sand dunes which have been designated as a natural park. You can just walk, nap, sunbathe, or picnic on the dunes by yourself, or if you are feeling adventures you can hire a camel to stroll across the sand under the warm sun. You definitely don’t need more than a day to explore Maspalomas, but it makes for a great stop if you are exploring the island!
Oh man, I’m ready to go back already – check out some videos on my Instagram highlight reel SPAIN.
