When we found killer deals on flights to Brussels (€30 RT pp) we knew we had to make it a weekend and go visit our friends the Tollman’s. They were MORE than accommodating and not only hosted us, shuttled us around, but also made us a delicious Thanksgiving meal! We spent tons of time relaxing and exploring the nearby cities of Brussels and Brugge.
We hopped on the train and cruised into Brussels for the day and started eating our way through the town waffle by waffle. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and we had an amazing view of the city, excellent waffles covered in strawberries and chocolate and heaven on a plate. Then, of course, we just wandered and got lost exploring while looking around the beautiful city. The architecture of the buildings is absolutely amazing I love the tops and had to pick out a magnet that matches perfectly. The main square was decorated with a giant tree and there was the most amazing light show to music when the sun went down. We had to find the three pis statues somehow famous throughout Belgium. Zinneke, Jeanneke & Manneken Pis – the three peeing statues hidden around the city of Brussels.
Of course, we are now doing another round of whole 30 because of all the heaven we ate! So many waffles, frites, and more waffles.
Some of our good friends that we knew in Oklahoma ended up in Belgium at the same time we moved to Italy so Agena and Paisley met us as night and we visited Delirium Cafe and of course, had more Waffles before walking around the Christmas markets & seeing the light show. Presley and Paisley get along really well so it was fun to be able to add a friend to the mix while we were traveling! She is great whenever we travel, but she definitely has more fun with kids her age around!
We had so much fun, plus it was great to get in some friend time! Thanks for being such amazing friends and hosts Allison and Nick (Allison is an incredible artist & Doula – check out her blog and shop!)
