As soon as we arrived in Chiang Mai we got checked into our room which ended up being absolutely adorable (a super plus after our bust of a hotel in Bangkok). The family that owns the Kittawan Home & Gallery lent us their own chargers when ours wouldn’t work, gave us tons of information on tours and hot spots & even some restaurant recommendations. The property is beautiful, there is bug spray everywhere, Koi fish they let Presley feed & it’s tucked away and a little oasis just a few minutes outside of town. We would 100% stay there again if we found ourselves back in Chiang Mai.
Saturday Night Market
Chiang Mai has a nightly bazaar and then on Saturday night, there is even more! There were so many street vendors and absolutely anything you could want to eat you could find and for pennies! I had a giant tofu vegetable bowl for a dollar and it was divine! We wandered around trying some new food, cheese balls, a mango smoothie and then headed back to our room to get some rest before our activity the next day!
Elephant Sanctuary
Elephant Day arrived and I couldn’t wait! We were picked up at our hotel and drove to the Sanctuary located about an hour away. We arrived and instantly the Elephants came over to welcome us! We put on the provided outfits so our personal clothes wouldn’t get dirty and learned about all the Elephants at the Sanctuary and how they were rescued. We fed them lots of bananas and learned about Elephants in general before we handmade a Nutrient Ball that they receive daily. The elephants decided they didn’t want a mud bath (we were super bummed!) but also loved that they weren’t forced to do anything they didn’t want to do. They let Presley spray them off with a hose & we changed back into our clothes to feed them some more and get some pictures. It was such an amazing day & I fell in love with the amazing work the Sanctuary is doing.
Elephant Sanctuary Tour booked from our favorite Get Your Guide
Doi Suthep
Before we hopped on a plane to our next destination we decided to make the trek up to Doi Suthep this amazing temple on the mountain. We hopped in a shared Tuk Tuk to make the switchback drive to the top (I almost threw up several times) but the views were definitely worth it once we made it to the top. Our drive waited 2 hours for us while we explored and then took us back down!
We had a blast exploring Chiang Mai, but now it’s time to head SOUTH to explore some of Thailand’s beaches & I cannot wait!

Such a stunning place with beautiful people. How did Presley react to the kids in traditional attire (like with the hats on)?
