This was the last portion of our weekend in Siena and we wrapped it up beautifully – although I feel like I could spend another entire week exploring Siena because I absolutely loved it. We were able to spend 4 days exploring the area of Siena and we started with time in the actual town of Siena, spent a day exploring San Gimignano and then headed to todays blog post of Bagni San Filippo & Val D’Orica. Lets check out these amazing photos!!!
We started with Bagni San Filippo because it was the most Southern and furthest away and we wanted to get to Val D’Orica as close to sunset as possible. From Siena we drove straight to the ‘White Whale’ which takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. We paid for a few hours of parking and then followed the trail of people either coming or going to enjoy the natural hot springs. Other than parking, visiting is completely free & definitely worth it. We opted to visit this instead of the more famous Saturnia Springs (that are a bit further south).
We laid down a blanket, took turns exploring with Presley, slathered on the mud scrub (when in doubt do what the locals do). We walked down the river a little bit and found these amazing little tubs and even one hanging above a cave that we jumped into as soon as the group sitting in it left.
After that, we had a snack in the car and headed to visit the famous picture spot of Val D’Orica about 30 minutes North. This spot is highly photographed and there were about 20 other people when we were there and more coming as the sun was setting. If it wasn’t such a ‘lame’ spot for Presley I would have layed down a blanket, opened a bottle of wine and watched the sun set completely. We had about 30 minutes before Presley was done & ready to move on so we snapped our pictures, took some deep breaths of thankfulness and then headed the hour and 20 minutes back to Siena. Isn’t this location gorgeous? I mean, i’d die to take really fancy photos here with a photography and giant flowey dress – these instagram husband photos turned out amazing so I cannot imagine what magic a professional could do here.
I think this might have been my favorite adventure day of our Siena trip…..
Thanks for stopping by! Remember – ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE!!!
