Outlander stops to see in Falkland, Scotland

20 September 2020 by Tausha Leave a Comment

Getting to Falkland:

We flew into Edinburgh and rented a car to get us around during our week of adventures in Scotland. It took us approximately 1 hour to get to Falkland and it was an incredibly easy drive. There is parking throughout the city & a small lot just outside if there isn’t a spot in town. During busy times, there can be a queue to take photos because lots of the Outlander tours have Falkland as a main stop. We were incredibly lucky to go during an open travel period while Covid wasn’t as bad. We literally only locals in the town with us.

Falkland Stops to see:

The Covenantor Hotel – Mrs. Bairds B&B – if you can’t stay for a night, at least go in for a meal, or a drink. Mrs. Bairds sign is hanging in the entryway & you get extra good luck if you boop it 🙂 Reserve a room HERE.

Bruce Fountain – The famous fountain where Jamies ghost looks up at Claire. This was really gorgeous to see at night but even more amazing during the day. It gives the town so much character and makes the location instantly recognizable.

Fayre Earth – The store called Farrells in the series were Claire contemplates getting a vase. Employees LOVE to talk about how the store was transformed, and have amazing Outlander and local artist products inside. We chatted for over an hour and heard some amazing filming stories and how the store was transformed for scenes.

Falkland Palace – Closed when we were there, but used in Season two as an Apothecary that claire visits and finds Mary Hawkins trying to get medication to nurse Alex Randall back to health.

Campbells Coffee – In the series it is a grocery store & then a tea shop. Stop by for a coffee if you have the time!

Falkland Village Old Town Hall – we didn’t make time to stop by, but this was used as the location Roger & Bree go to find records on their search for Jamie.

Brunton Street, Sharps Close & High Street – all gorgeous little side streets where multiple scenes were shot. Captain Randall secures loding for his brother, a later scene where Claire & Murtagh walk, and were Claire is seen walking with her arms crossed.

I shared lots of pictures and videos on an Instagram Highlight reel if you want to see even more! Find all the location pins HERE.

Thanks for stopping by & remember, ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE + and hopefully Jamie Fraser.
