We just got home from 2 weeks in Nebraska so I thought I’d share some of my favorite pictures from the time we spent there. My family owns a home in Omaha, but they are currently living in North Platte so we spent time at both of their homes & packed in lots of adventures & family time. Chad was on break from Dental School and needed some alone time to study for his Dental Boards that he took while we were gone….So, here we go!
Our trip started with this amazing experience while boarding our flight…..Presley was able to join the captain in the cockpit and pretend to fly the plane and got to speak on the intercom. She was a celebrity the entire flight since we sat in the very back; everyone that came to the bathroom talked to her. I remember the first time we flew with Presley we were so nervous but now I love it. She is seriously the BEST traveler. She loves being on the plane, getting her own seat and a little drink and talking to our neighbor.
Once we arrived in Nebraska after the 4 hour ride to my parents house we found a dinosaur! Riding ‘Toni’ the Dinosaur (like 3 separate times) was a highlight of her trip. She has been talking about riding a dinosaur for the past month so she flipped out when we drove by and saw him….she galloped up to him and climbed right up. Of course, every single time we drove by him we had to stop so she could say HI to him.
Since we were in Nebraska over Veterans day we got to watch the North Platte Veterans Day parade and Presley filled up a tub of candy – she was definitely very excited about that. It was amazing to see such a small fun community come together to support Veterans while also tossing out bags of candy – makes me want to live in a small town like North Platte when we finish school and settle down.
I was able to take some of my wood crafts to Nebraska to help my mom out in a craft show. I had a blast spending the day with her & was able to network & get a little personal affirmation that things I create are actually cute outside of my own home! It was great to see excitement over some of my work & to see all the amazing things the other booths had created.
We went to see where Uncle Nicky worked and I fell in love with the amazing buildings & he even was able to cut me out a gorgeous metal ‘hello’ that I have a fun project planned for. Presley loved walking around on the roof & seeing all the activities going on around his office. We also visited the Omaha Zoo with him and his fiancé Tori (I did a full post on that here).
We froze our butts off when it snowed but still went out to play in it approximately 17.8 times which ended in Presley crying every single time because she was so cold even all bundled up. I couldn’t make a snowman, so we just made Elsa’s ice castle instead.
We spent a day helping friends with morning chores on the farm & Presley loved it, but also hated it because it was so stinking cold outside (she is totally an Arizona native now!) Her favorite part was snuggling the kitties and counting them as they ate breakfast – there was 19 that we could count! She also loved chasing turkeys and collecting feathers.
We visited the famous North Platte Bailey Yard and watched the trains come in and go out for about an hour. It was fascinating to hear the history and to watch it all happen.
We had a blast hanging out in Nebraska even if we were freezing the entire time & used every single blanket in the house to stay warm at night (while running up the electrical bill). Plus, you can’t beat family time.
Happy Hump Day…..I’ll be back tomorrow with an awesome gift guide from Uncommon Goods.
