Ciao Tutti! I thought I’d share with my fellow American-Italians this amazing Spa Hotel located approximately 3 hours from Vicenza in South Tyrol & convince you that you NEED to go. It won’t take much convincing though, the hotel is is beyond incredible.
This family owned Hotel combines luxury and relaxation while using fresh and locally sourced products to encourage well being and simplicity. Fresh spring water fountains on every floor, organic soaps & lotions, farm to table meals. I could rave about Hotel Petrus for hours if you let me – check out the highlight REEL on my instagram if you don’t believe me! I cannot wait to go back.
Parking & Check-In:
Free parking on site & more down the street if the lot is full. The family speaks an array of languages so someone around will be able to check you in whether you speak English, German or Italian. I received a full hotel tour which was helpful to see where everything was before I got settled in my room. (You will pay for your stay and and any additional services when you leave, card accepted).
The Rooms:
The rooms are absolutely incredible. Hands down, one of the most comfortable bed/pillow/comforter I’ve ever slept on in my life. *note to self, find out where they are sold.* My room even had an infrared sauna, patio with charges, television, waterfall shower & tons of counterspace. Some of the fancy rooms even have a hot tub on the patio – WOW. Definitely the perfect rooms for a romantic, relaxing getaway & even in the most basic room you will feel like royalty. Go see all the room options HERE. (I stayed in the Double Room Petrus)
Activities:
In my room was several helpful booklets with information about the Hotel, the Family, and their favorite local activities. There was also a schedule that the hotel had for activities that week. Hikes, yoga, trips to town – all of which can be reserved at the front desk. (See the activities by season HERE.)
I visited the Hotel during the end of August on a rainy relaxing weekend so opted to mostly just relax at the hotel. The one activity that I did do on my own was a drive over to Lago di Braies which was only a beautiful 30 minute drive from the Hotel. Definitely recommend! Other than that, I didn’t leave the hotel – there was plenty of relaxing, reading, napping and spa treatments to get to!
The Spa
The entire Hotel is incredible, but the best part is the Spa Area. All of which is included in your stay. Relaxing activities include:
Pool that is both indoor/outdoor set at 30c
Whirlpool set to 35
Relaxation Rooms
A textile free Sauna with several different rooms (5) and temperate elements. All of the relaxation areas are open different hours closing at the latest 8pm and several have a minimum age limit of 14years.
The spa also has a ‘beauty’ center where you can book additionally charged treatments. Hubby booked me TWO spa treatments during my stay. The first was ‘Energy for the back’ which is described as “tango pack on the back followed by intensive massage with cupping glasses relieve tension in the back muscles Good for intense stress, muscle tension and nervousness.” The second the following day was a “Milk Bath & Massage” which was my absolutely favorite spa treatment I have ever gotten. It started with a warm bath with tea, cold milk drizzled in a few minutes afterwards. Then a soothing massage that I’m pretty sure I feel asleep during. Both treatments were absolutely incredible with aromatherapy, soft music, candles & I left feeling completely refreshed and relaxed.
The Relaxation Area was probably my favorite part of the stay (have I said that already? Every part was my favorite part!) There are
LANA – The wool room featuring different beds with material additives to elicit a desired effect. Wool, Peat, Weiderinde, Splints of Stone Pine, Linen and Herbs.
FIENO – This hay room should bring you the feeling of laying in a hay barn which has a soothing, analgesic effect and can help with muscle cramps, indigestion, mental & physical exhaustion as well as rheumatism & gout.
Walboden – You can see in the windows reflection the outdoor relaxation area. Walking barefoot through this area activates the immune system and grounds you to the earth.
Cirmolo – The scent of pine & wool will surround you as you slip into a waterbed for an afternoon nap. I sure did. The stone pine grows in Alpine altitudes because up to 1,000 years old. The wood has antibacterial properties, relaxes & reduces the heartbeat so this is the perfect room to just slip away.
Cigliegia – Visit the foot reflexology bench where you can experience the wonders of cherry pits. Due to the friction, a warmth develops and you have your very own foot reflexology ergonomic lounger heaven.
If you are one of those people that work out on vacation. Don’t worry! Hotel Petrus has a Water & Wood Gym – this no electricity gym was incredible. The machines are powered by water in a way that creates a self-regulation component. Machines include a Waterrower, Grinder, Swinging Dumbbells, Wall Bar, Training Station, and a Sprintbok – a motorless curved treadmill that is powdered by your own leg strength.
