A few weeks ago our good friend Eric (or as Pres calls him, ‘unkew ewic’) came to visit us for a week and we made sure we kept him busy with lots of hikes, camping & a baseball game. We had a blast exploring some new areas & discovering more of Arizona. I’ve been telling Chad – I have absolutely fallen in LOVE with Arizona. It seems like there are so many hidden areas we have discovered & so much more that we keep hearing about. Thank goodness for Third Year and the fact that we have been able to explore so much on the weekends.
Guys, this weekend was completely FREE! We found a free camping spot & we slept in the van while Eric slept in the tent. We took food we had from home & the hike was free (I think we were supposed to purchase a ticket online?! But we didn’t. Oops. Don’t tell.) Check out this camping spot! It was on a little side road off the highway & the boys wanted to go explore – so we did & it was public land so we picked a flat spot and set up camp. It was a little creepy – being the only ones out there. I told Chad, “this is the realest camping I’ve ever done!” -as we sat in the van on our queen size pillow top mattress watching Frozen on the iPad. I didn’t sit on a toilet for two straight days! THAT is real camping y’all.
We drove up Friday night, camped & then Saturday morning – woke up, had breakfast & then went on this fun waterfall hike we heard about from a friend of Chads. The Cibecue Creek hike has two different waterfalls. The first is a more family friendly hike (which we did with Presley). The more advanced hike requires a guide as you travel past the waterfall to another larger waterfall. We did the smaller hike (3 miles roundtrip) with Presley & had an absolute blast. The rain from the previous week made the water look like delicious cold chocolate milk & made it a slow trek towards the waterfall. It is SO HARD to cross the creek when you cannot see anything – but we still had a blast & Presley loved it.
And then Presley fell asleep & Chad carried her back the entire way. What a lucky girl – I wish I could sleep on a hike! So, this weekend was a total score for us. We had a blast with Eric & loved exploring a new area of Arizona. We definitely want to go back and do several other hikes in the Globe area.
Cheers to weekends & adventures & the great outdoors. XO

Hi!! Thank you for sharing all your awesome adventures with us! Love them all! Came across this blog and had a few questions..
I’m planning a trip in July 1st to cibecue Falls and I’m debating whether not I should bring my one year old. I do quite a bit of hiking with him and I’ve read that this is a easier hike but not sure if i should bring him. I’m aware of the multiple creek crossings.

Hey Lesley!
Thanks so much for stopping by! This hike was definitely one of the easier ones – the water was really murky so that was tricky – but otherwise flat and great for little ones who love the water and throwing rocks etc! Let me know if you end up doing it, I’d love to hear about it!

The Hike was great for a 55 year old.. Water was crystal clear. Be prepared to climb rocks when the creek level is up. You will crisscross the creek at least 6 times to track up to the falls.
The drive into the canyon is beautiful, but cliffs are steep. Take your time and no issues. Cost is $15 person.. Go early to get out of the canyon before dark..
