This past weekend we were trying to decide whether to camp for Fourth of July or if we should escape the heat; of course, escape the heat won & we decided we would surprise sweet Presley girl with a trip to SeaWorld San Diego. San Diego is just over a 5 hour drive from us & a complete difference in temperature. I think we were the only ones walking around in jackets – we screamed tourists! I’ll be sharing tons of pictures from Sea World, but wanted to tell you all about the amazing Radisson Rancho-Bernardo Hotel in San Diego today.
Because there are three of us & Presley is a bed hog, we decided to go with a King Size room with a pull out couch (which we didn’t use but was awesome for laying out all our outfits for the next day, Type A over here!)
The bed was so cozy I thought about strapping it to the top of our car & bringing it home. It was like sleeping in a bed of bleached white heavenly soft clouds. The comforter was big and fluffy & when pulled up to your neck just divine. It was horrible getting out of in the morning. I would take up permanent residency if I could.
There was a ton of storage in the room, although we didn’t use much of it. Plenty of pull out cupboard space by the tv & even space in the bathroom for an extended stay. The bathroom had this amazing sliding doors where you could just make out a silhouette standing behind it (sexy if you aren’t with a 3 year old) and the lighting in the bathroom was so bright & great for makeup.
There was even a small vanity which was perfect for all my hair & makeup stuff – with a coffee set right by it. Hello relaxing good morning coffee & makeup time. This is great for couple and optimizing your ‘get ready’ time. One in the bathroom & one relaxing at the vanity; I’d ro-sham-bo for that vanity any day.
On the other side of the room was the entertainment center & a full desk that I snuck in a few minutes of blogging with. It was also great for putting all our bags on & for some food we brought back to the room after breakfast. Speaking of breakfast….
There was plenty of seating both inside & outside so we didn’t ever have to wait for a spot. The weather was divine in the morning & the hours were later (like breakfast until 1030 am) than we expected. The Radisson spoils you with a full breakfast buffet that was slightly different both mornings we were there. Seriously DELICIOUS. There was plenty of stuff for picky eaters, kids, and we stuffed our faces both mornings. Presley was pretty dang excited to have hot chocolate each morning!
We didn’t have enough time to just relax poolside because we spent all of our time at SeaWorld or at the beach (and snuck in a visit to see Nay) There was lots of people by the pool by 11 in the morning though so I was a little jealous we didn’t have another day to just relax and explore the gorgeous grounds.
The only downside was parking! It was a busy weekend for travel and the parking lot was FULL; but the spots were so small & it was nearly impossible to get out and unpack the car. We had to have one person holding the door to not ding the car next to us while the other unloaded the bags, the kid, etc. Other than that, next time we are in San Diego – we will definitely be staying there again!
Huge thanks to the Radisson for having us!
