Explore Oklahoma – Great Plains Museum (Lawton)

12 January 2018 by Tausha Leave a Comment

It’s been so cold lately in Lawton, we have been looking for things inside to do to get out of the house and away from the television! We definitely love snuggle on the couch days, but it’s sometimes just necessary to get out of the house. I always love leaving the house because I’m able to sort of reprioritize and realize the things I was stressed about at home aren’t really that big of a deal, and I am able to come home with a clear head. Plus, it makes my mom guilt disappear when we go out and Presley gets to see and learn new things instead of letting Peppa Pig teach her.

The Great Plains Museum is located on the East Side of Lawton, right by Presleys preschool so it’s the perfect stop on the way home, and only about 5 minutes from our home so an easy morning/afternoon raining activity if we need one. We decided after our first visit to get a Year Membership because we enjoyed it so much. We opted to get a family pass that just lets us visit this museum (instead of this one that gets you into 5 different Oklahoma museums).

IMG_2008My favorite part about the museum, other than the fact that is clean and quiet is the fact that there are so many hands on activities for Presley to do. There are hands on activities throughout the museum so it keeps her entertained and lets her be creative.

IMG_2082 I think we’ve been 5 times in the past month and a half and we’ve loved it every time.

So, if you are in town, we’d love to take you & if you are new to Lawton – I definitely recommend getting a year pass! It’ll prove to be worth every penny & pays for itself in just a handful of visits!

Almost flipped when I found out this was going to Almost flipped when I found out this was going to be a short series on Netflix (it’s out now) because this book was a TOP favorite of mine this past year. It starts off slow but at the end you will sit up straight in bed (because you’ll have to finish it and it’s always at 2am) and say “WHAT THE FRICK” because the ending is THAT good.

This canyon is a stream fossil: carved by a stream that flowed under the ice during the last glacial period (circa 15,000 years ago). Pretty incredible to see in person, pictures could never do this place justice. #busdelbuson #belluno #wanderingwierlos

Not a single day has gone been where I didn’t think of him.....and for me, the unknown is the worst. We still don’t know if he is in a safe home, if he died that night, or after. It just breaks my heart to think he wasn’t surrounded by love in his final moments. Miss you Dexxy “brother” 🐾🌈
