We had nothing planned this past weekend so we decided to go to Rome, I mean – why not! We still need to go back a billion times to see everything there is to see – but we wanted to start seeing some of the things! We stayed at Holiday a San Pietro which had an amazing location within walking distance to the Vatican City & the metro so we were able to go to the other side of Rome so quick and easy. (Definitely recommend this hotel & location!) I feel like there is so much to do we should divide Rome into quadrants and work on just one quadrant at a time to not miss anything! We decided to hit a lot of the tourist spots since it was our first visit.
First up was a visit to Vatican City & visiting the Vatican Museum – comprised of 12 museums in all (not including the Sistine Chapel). To see it all would mean walking around 4miles! We didn’t see everything because Presley would definitely have not made it! We enjoyed coffee and snacks outside and loved seeing so many beautiful works of art. I purchased our tickets for Fast Track to the Vatican here & it was a great deal & worth skipping the line!
Next up we visited the Colosseum – We listened to the free Rick Steves Audio Guide as we toured (save some money and get this ticket with Skip the Line). This ticket also gets you into the Roman Forum and Palantine hill. The history on the Colosseum absolutely blows my mind & next time we go we will upgrade tickets to get on the lower floor to learn even more! We didn’t stay too long at the Roman Forum or Palantine Hill because traveling with a Toddler is tricky sometimes – but I take comfort in knowing we get to go back!
I think my favorite part of Rome was visiting the Trevi Fountain which we did 3 separate times! I think Presley made like 27 wishes and contributed to the average 3k euros thrown in daily. I already cannot wait to go back! I have a giant list of all the things I want to see in person! I’m pinning everything to a ROME board – so come follow me on Pinterest and help us add things to our Bucket Lists!
xo Thanks for stopping by!
